Without an account
HostDock works fully without an account. In that case we receive nothing from you: your servers, credentials, notes and settings stay on your Mac. The app connects directly to your servers over SSH and, if you configure one, to the AI provider you chose.
With an account
Signing in is only needed to sync between your computers. When you do, our service stores:
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Email address | To send sign-in codes and identify your account |
| Nickname and avatar (optional) | Shown in the app on your devices |
| Device name, operating system and app version | So you can see and sign out your devices |
| IP address | Rate limiting and account security. Kept 1 day with sign-in codes; kept with security events (sign-in, sign-out, vault changes) |
| Encrypted vault | Your servers, credentials and forwarding rules as ciphertext we cannot decrypt, plus the record kind, size and time |
| Cloud Space content | Notes, scripts, File Station files, appearance settings. Not end-to-end encrypted; we store it as you wrote it |
We never receive your sync password, your recovery code or your vault's data key. See the security page for exactly what is encrypted.
AI features
If you use your own AI endpoint, HostDock sends your messages and command output directly from your Mac to that provider; we are not involved, and their privacy policy applies. If you use the AI service provided by HostDock, our server forwards each request to our upstream model provider. We do not store or log the content of these requests or replies; we record only how many tokens your account used each month.
Where data is stored
Account data is stored in our database. File Station file contents are stored with an object storage provider (Cloudflare R2 for accounts outside mainland China) and travel directly between your Mac and that storage.
Deleting your data
You can delete your account from the account page in HostDock. This permanently removes your account and everything stored with it on our side. Data on your own computers is not touched.
This website
hostdock.dev is hosted on Cloudflare. To know how many people visit and which pages they read, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics. It sets no cookies, stores nothing in your browser and does not follow you across other sites. It records the page you opened, the site that linked you here, the type of browser and device, and the country you visited from. We see only these totals, never a list of individual visitors. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes your IP address to deliver the pages. We use no other analytics, advertising or tracking on this site.
