Where Termius is stronger

  • Runs everywhere: macOS, Windows, Linux, iOS and Android. HostDock is macOS-only today.
  • A mature SSH feature set: built-in agent with forwarding, FIDO2/security keys, certificates and post-quantum key exchange.
  • Team vaults with per-member keys for sharing hosts across a company.

Where HostDock is stronger

  • Server monitoring and Docker management built in, over the same SSH connection, with nothing to install.
  • An AI assistant that can actually run commands on your servers, using the model you choose, with approval modes and a command log.
  • A local MCP server so Claude Code or Codex can work on your servers with scoped tokens, without seeing your keys.
  • End-to-end encrypted sync of servers and credentials on the free plan, plus a recovery code if you forget the sync password.

Frequently asked questions

Is HostDock a good Termius alternative for Mac?

If you work on a Mac and mostly manage Linux servers, yes: HostDock covers SSH, SFTP, port forwarding and jump hosts like Termius, and adds agentless monitoring, Docker management, an AI assistant that runs commands with your approval, and an MCP server for Claude Code. Termius is the better pick if you need Windows, Linux or mobile apps, ssh-agent forwarding or hardware security keys.

Does Termius have an AI assistant that runs commands?

As of October 2026, Termius offers AI autocomplete that turns a description into a command you review and run yourself. An AI agent that executes commands was announced in November 2024 as a closed beta; its public documentation does not describe it as generally available.

Is Termius sync end-to-end encrypted?

Yes. Termius encrypts vault data with a key protected by an encryption password that never leaves your device, and sync requires a paid plan. HostDock’s vault is also end-to-end encrypted and its sync has a free plan; HostDock’s Cloud Space (notes, scripts, files) is not end-to-end encrypted.
