Remote files, without a second app
HostDock's file manager browses your server over SFTP on the same connection as your terminal. Drag files in from Finder, watch transfers in a queue, change permissions, unpack archives and edit config files in place.

What you can do
Browse and organize
Sort by name, size or date, hide dotfiles, type a path to jump there. Create, rename and delete files and folders.
A real transfer queue
Upload and download files and whole folders, or drag them in from Finder. Each transfer shows progress, speed and time left, and can be cancelled or retried.
Edit in place
Double-click a text file to edit it. Saves are atomic and keep the file’s permissions, and HostDock warns you if someone else changed the file meanwhile.
Permissions
Change permissions with checkboxes or an octal value, for one file or many at once.
Compress and extract
Pack files into .tar.gz, or unpack .tar.gz, .tgz, .tar, .tar.bz2, .tar.xz and .zip right on the server.
No silent overwrites
Uploads ask before replacing a file. Downloads get a numbered name instead of overwriting what’s already on your Mac.
At a glance

Frequently asked questions
Can I edit remote files directly in HostDock?
Yes. Double-click a UTF-8 text file up to 1 MB to open it in HostDock’s editor. Saving writes to a temporary file and renames it, keeps the original permissions and checks first whether the file changed on the server.
Does the server need anything special for file transfers?
Only the standard SFTP subsystem that OpenSSH enables by default. Compressing and extracting use the tar and unzip commands on the server.
